Logic From the Past, Speaks Volume for Today

Yesterdays version of socialism is no different then today's version, and Milton Friedman points out to Phil Donahue, in this 30 year old interview, that that system of government controlling every aspect of enterprise and liberty has never worked.

The message still resonates today, as it did back then.

Donahue uses the same rhetoric as today's liberals.... The distribution of wealth, so few have's and so many have not's, greed and concentration of power, "do you ever have a moment of doubt about Capitalism?"

And then there is Friedman response......

I love how he points to Einstein & Henry Ford.
And this point stands out as one of our greatest quotes in Amercan history...
'so that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear, that there is no alternative way, so far discovered, of improving the lot of the ordinary people, can hold a candle to the productive activity that are unleashed by a free enterprise system!'

Why don't the liberal left get this?

IT'S OBVIOUS THAT OBAMA DOESN'T GET IT!

He said today that capitalism and liberty don't work!

This is the President of the United States????

I love the look on Donohue's face. For once in his life he's gobstopped.

He did look like he wasn't happy to hear Friedmans response, but then again what did he expect from Milton, for him to whip out a hammer and sickle pin and place it on his lapel?
