Romney Record in Mass- Employment

The Obama's supporting super PAC, Priorities USA Action is plotting its biggest television ad campaign, a $30 million attacking Mitt Romney for his tenure as governor of Massachusetts on his broader economic policy.

The spot, featuring a testimonial from Olive Chase, a well-regarded chef on Cape Cod, is a new twist for Priorities USA Action.

Previous ads by the super PAC consisted of a failed attack on Romney tenure at Bain Capital.

Well now Priorities USA is going after his record in Massachusetts.

First the money: Based on the "officially" dollars, their war chest resides (based on Federal Election Commission reports) in the $4.2M range. So it is under water currently.

This ad campaign, however, will try and show Romney failure as Governor of Mass.

The new ad, featuring Chase, owner of The Casual Gourmet, will lay claim that Mitts record was dismal during his Governorship.

"Governor Romney promised that he would bring jobs to this state. By the time Governor Romney left office, we had fallen to 47th in the nation in terms of job growth, Governor Romney cares about big business, he cares about tax cuts for wealthy people and I certainly do not believe he cares about my hard-working employees. I feel like I was duped by Mitt Romney. I’m going to vote for President Obama."

So with that said, and to head off another lie by Priorities USA, let’s take a look at Romney's "jobs growth"

-In January of 2003, the time that Mitt Romney was sworn in as Governor, unemployment stood at 5.6% in Massachusetts.

-By July of that year, it had peaked at 6%... But that’s where it tops off and fell from there.

-By January of 2007, the time Romney left office, employment in Massachusetts stood at 4.6% (You can check out the data here and adjust the dates for Romney time in office)
-That's a 23% improvement in 4 years!

What PUSA has failed to mention here is, during this time frame, Massachusetts was right in line with the rest of the country, as far a job growth and unemployment.
January of 2003, the national average stood at 5.8%
In July of 2003 it had peaked at 6.3% and by Jan of 2007, unemployment in the country stood at 4.6%

Citizens United v. Fed Election Commission

The landmark decision by the United States Supreme court that the McCain-Feingold act violated free speech was un-presidented ruling that infuriate liberals to no end.

It allows Corporations, millionaires and Unions to donate money, sometimes millions of it to help elect their Candidate.

In his 2010 State of the Union address, Obama said of the decision:

"Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities."

Now we do know that foreign corporations cannot spend without limits. That was upheld.

But now comes a twist to the Presidents remarks on special interest, and I am sure Obama is not saying the same thing today.

A report out by the Associated Press yesterday said Multimillionaire George Soros' contributed $1 million to the advocacy group America Votes and another $1 million pledge to American Bridge 21st Century, an outside "super" political committee supportive of Obama's campaign. 

"As he has in the past, George is focusing his political giving in 2012 on grassroots organizing and holding conservatives accountable for the flawed policies they promote," Soros adviser Michael Vachon said

Flawed policies? Does Vachon mean Capitalism?

"Thanks to investments by progressive leaders like Mr. Soros, we have been able to build a cutting-edge organization that we will continue to build upon in order to keep providing effective and efficient services to the progressive movement," said David Brock, American Bridge's founder.

Oh the Hypocrisy of the left!

So far, GOP super PACs have outraised their Democratic counterparts by tens of millions of dollars.  

So if a liberal/progressive ever rants about McCain-Feingold act and the SCOTUS decision of it, you can slam them with this. They've got no complaints any longer.
