WaPo[Opinion Page] Recommends Obama to Be a One Term President

Yes, you read it right, a one term President (and I agree):

This is a critical moment for the country. From the faltering economy to the burdensome deficit to our foreign policy struggles, America is suffering a widespread sense of crisis and anxiety about the future. Under these circumstances, Obama has the opportunity to seize the high ground and the imagination of the nation once again, and to galvanize the public for the hard decisions that must be made. The only way he can do so, though, is by putting national interests ahead of personal or political ones.
To that end, we believe Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.
If the president goes down the reelection road, we are guaranteed two years of political gridlock at a time when we can ill afford it.

Even the WaPo admits the election was a referendum:

We do not come to this conclusion lightly. But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed. The midterm elections were effectively a referendum on the Obama presidency.

It pains them to say it, but their reasoning is to say:

We are convinced that if Obama immediately declares his intention not to run for reelection, he will be able to unite the country, provide national and international leadership, escape the hold of the left, isolate the right and achieve results that would be otherwise unachievable.

Now I don't believe doing so would isolate the right, but he would come to realize they were correct all along. You can not ignore the will of the people.

Although I would like this to happen I do not believe it will being the narcissist Obama is.

Also, the WaPo makes the effort/mistake of trying to separate Obama from the left in this line; "escape the hold of the left", Obama IS the left and they damn well know it.

If this were to come to fruition I agree with you that it would not isolate the right but disagree Obama would realize we were correct, maybe the WaPo would but not him.

I had to wonder after i read the blog and the corresponding op-ed if this was the Bonsai From the Right blog. You usually write with a higher standard than this Mark and i am disappointed with what seems to be out right deception as to who wrote the piece and what their relationship is to the paper.

The article is an op-ed, or opposite the editorial page and does not reflect the views of the editorial staff and thus the Washington Post. To suggest otherwise is to be disingenuous at the minimum and an outright malicious deception at worst.

And in going to the Washington Posts opinion page i found that articles expressing WAPO's opinion bore the byline "Editorial" instead of the name of a particular writer. But i was amazed to see the wide and interesting group of people the make up the WAPO editorial team. People like George Will, EJ Dionne jr., Charles Krauthammer, Robert Gates (how does he do it and be Sec of Def.?) Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Leo Dicaprio. And i would be remiss if i didn't mention that praise worthy writer, Letter.

All joking aside, what you have here is an Opinion piece wrote not by the Washington Post editorial staff but by freelance opinion writers and Democratic activists. That alone should be blog worthy without the cringe inducing lies of the title and body of this blog.

As for the piece itself i am not surprised that Dino's like the real authors (not the WAPO) would advocate this and that they would attempt to create a truly false picture of what would and could be.

Happy Joe? The headline has been change.
It was NO malicious deception, I don't do this for a living Joe, I have a real job, so mistakes happen. Blog post are done mostly on the fly.
Henceforth the regular font (my input) and italic font (what was post ON WaPo)

Yes Mark, words do matter! You should not have left a 'word' out of the heading, liberals always want to be so accurate in understanding the true meaning of things,,,,you know, like "what the definition of 'is'...'is!?"

I really don't see Obama taking anyone advice except Saul Alinsky's bible, RR

-david, the word changed, the meaning didn't... Notice? :)
