Wisconsin Senate Dems Acting Like Children

14 Democrat Senators in Wisconsin’s state Senate walked off the job today and left the state.

That 14, are the ALL of the Democrats within the Wisconsin Senate.

This over a dispute about the bill that would ban collective bargaining rights for teachers, requires educators to contribute 5.8 percent to their pensions and 12.6 percent to their health care. Currently, educators pay 0.2 percent for their pensions and 4 to 6 percent of their health care costs.

It also would reduce the amount the heads of the union can ask of the rank and file for dues, which under this bill would reduce that by $500 a year.

The Senators left the state in a move that would slow down the bill. Senate Republicans hold a 19-14 majority but can't vote on the bill unless at least one Democrat is present.

So the Republicans have found a way to save the rank and file money to help cover the cost of the increase the state is asking from its public unions, but the Democratic leaders appear to be driven by the head of the unions, to kill this whole budget saving move.
The Republican-backed bill, would also strip most other public employees of their collective-bargaining rights.

So what do these elected representatives DO?

Stomp their feet, walk off the job and leave the state, instead of confront it.

What a bunch of 5 year olds!

well thats interesting.

I don't think that its the cutting of the dues that has the legislators leaving town and its pretty obvious that your misleading people but bringing it up. Don't be Chris, your better than that.

It would be the repeal of collective bargaining rights that would be the biggest issue. You already knew that though.

I like that "All of the Democrats in the Wisconsin Senate" blast...thats awesome!!

But how many republicans are in the Wisconsin senate? Did i read your post right? 19 is all the Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate. That makes 14 sound well okay. Its not like its 50 to 14 or something.

So is that bit of ignorance your work or did someone else put that out there and you thought it was cool?

Joe, what part of my post didn't you read?
The part about collective bargaining, or did you only read the part about the healthcare and pensions.
"This over a dispute about the bill that would ban collective bargaining rights for teachers, requires educators to contribute 5.8 percent to their pensions and 12.6 percent to their health care."
Stop slipping in to the "Bruce" abyss.

And Joe, 19 Reps and 14 Dems, those are the facts of the Wisconsin Senate. Nothing ignorant about it. All of the Dems walked off the job they were elected to do.

Not one of the Republican walked off the job they were elected to do.
And in case you missed it, I provided the link.
So stow the "your work" sh*t.

You came here just to put that out there?

The teachers are breaking the law and breaking their contract by not teaching in class. The Democrats are against democracy by not doing their job and voting. Don't be Joe is more like it. Wisconsin voted for the governor to do just what he said he would do. The only way to fix the budget problems is the way Walker is doing it. Why do you liberals turn on democracy when it doesn't give you what you want? Mark said it right by calling you all children.

Joe your constant name calling and personal put down proves what a child you are. The picture of a kid in a Batman suet fits you well.

1) 'So is that bit of ignorance your work'. Joe has put up many a post here that I 'privately' thought fit the level of ignorance but never used that word to discribe his comments out of respect for anothers POV.

To debate without using a word that suggests one has superior intelect than another is the greater intellectual approach.

2) Chris and Mark have the correct information and an understanding of the problem.

These Teachers should be FIRED, then they will loose everything just as the air traffic controlles did under Reagan.

3) In Missouri, the teachers here have a personal pay contribution to thier retirement of over 14%. All that Wisconsin is saying is contribute 5.8%. But no, these blood suckers expect taxpayers to pay for everything and anything a union wants them to pay for.

Here is yet another great example of why unions should be disaloud in the public arena.

4) These unions are another great example of terrorism in America. They hold our children hostage for their own personal desires and monetary goals...IT IS EXACTLY the same thing liberals blast American Capitolistic Businesses about. And on top of all that Obama supports this greed.

Once again, the Democrats' hypocrisy is in full bloom. FIRE THEM ALL.

There are two thing about this that is troubling.
Th MSM is claiming that this bill would "Cut pay, restricted collective bargaining for all, require an additional 5.8% of the rank and file pay to go towards their pensions, and contribute an additional 6% for healthcare"
But fail to mention of the $500 'opt-out' of dues provision that the state will not collect for the union heads.

Well first of all,
1. I see NOTHING with in the bill that "Cuts Pay"
2. It exempts Police, firefighters and other first responders from loosing the collective bargaining right.
3. The private sector pays in to their retirement with some businesses matching but lately business don't contribute because of our economic climate.
4. The Private sectors contributes 25%-50% towards their healthcare premiums, with little complaints.

The lefties unions want someone else to pay for the benefits. The states can no longer do it, period!
And now 14 Dems walk off the job instead of debating and add amendments, voting and representing their 'entire' constituency.

I see these 14 Senators careers over with when it's time to for their re-election.
