Wiener spokeswoman Risa Heller said in a statement
"Congressman Weiner departed this morning to seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person, "In light of that, he will request a short leave of absence from the House of Representatives so that he can get evaluated and map out a course of treatment to make himself well."Congressman Weiner takes the views of his colleagues very seriously and had determined that he needs this time to get healthy and make the best decision possible for himself, his family and his constituents,"
Nanny Pelosi said:
"I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a Member of Congress," she said in a statement.
National party chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Weiner's behavior is indefensible" and his role in Congress is "untenable."
"This sordid affair has become an unacceptable distraction" for everyone.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel said:
"inappropriate behavior has become an insurmountable distraction to the House and our work for the American people."
"With a heavy heart, I call on Anthony to resign," he said.
BUT they all, all mind you, want him to wait to resign until he is finished with getting professional help.
Now how is that? How can he be representing his constituency while getting treatment. And why wait? I'll tell you why! They want him to wait until after he gets treatment... Because it will be on the Taxpayers dime.
