Defenders of Prosperity Fact Checks Fact Check.Org

The so called Guru of fact finding, Fact Check.org, a project of the liberal  Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) Has posted a "fact check" claim that Presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Perry where wrong about Obama comment saying "We’ve been a little bit lazy I think over the last couple of decades" that was just made recently.

So I will show you where "Fact Check" got this wrong.

First, what Obama has said that stirred Romney and Perry recent ad and comments.

Nov 12, 2011-Obama -
"Well, this is an issue, generally. I think it’s important to remember that the United States is still the largest recipient of foreign investment in the world. And there are a lot of things that make foreign investors see the U.S. as a great opportunity — our stability, our openness, our innovative free market culture. -->"But we’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades.<-- We’ve kind of taken for granted — well, people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America. "
Oct 26, 2011-Obama
We used to have the best stuff. Anybody been to Beijing Airport lately? Or driven on high-speed rail in Asia or Europe? What’s changed? Well, -->we’ve lost our ambition, our imagination, and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge and Hoover Dam and unleashed all the potential in this country

 Sept 29, 2011-Obama
And that’s why making sure that we’re revamping our education system, making sure we’ve got world class infrastructure, investing in basic science, research and technology, making sure that we are moving manufacturing back to the United States, and that we are being tough with our trading partners — making sure that they’re not taking advantage of us. There are a lot of things we can do.
The way I think about it is,--> this is a great, great country that had gotten a little soft and we didn’t have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades.<-- We need to get back on track.

Now we turn to what Perry and Romney have said about the Presidents remarks.

Perry, Nov. 15: In recent weeks our president has taken to pointing the finger of blame instead of taking responsibility. He has called us soft and lazy, and he has said Americans lack ambition and imagination.
Mr. President, Americans aren’t soft or lazy, and Americans do not lack ambition or imagination, Washington has failed us.

Romney, Nov. 15: Sometimes, I just don’t think that President Obama understands America. I say that because this week — or was it last week? — he said that Americans are lazy. I don’t think that describes America. Before that, I think it was in October, he was saying we have lost our inventiveness, and our ambition. Before that he was saying other disparaging things about Americans. I just don’t think he understands — he was saying we just weren’t working hard enough. I don’t think he gets what’s happening in this country.
OK so now that we have got the quotes out of the way, lets take a look at how "Fact Check" needs to check their facts.

Their claim is this:

Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry and Mitt Romney both claim President Barack Obama said that “Americans are lazy.” He didn’t. To the contrary, Obama has consistently and repeatedly praised American workers as the “most productive in the world,” a bit of boosterism he has repeated dozens of times. His recent words — “we’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades” — actually referred to collective efforts to promote foreign investment in the U.S., and not to American workers or voters as individuals.
Obama didn’t call you lazy. He said the U.S. has gotten lazy about promoting and attracting new business to America. In fact, he called you “outstanding U.S. workers.”

So in this very speech, he calls Americans the “best workers in the world.” In fact, we did a word search on “most productive workers” on the White House website and found Obama has used that phrase to describe American workers in 26 different speeches. In those speeches and others, he calls Americans “innovative,” “dynamic” and “hard-working.”

We could go on, but we think you get the idea.
YEP, they can go on, but no matter how much they would go on about it, they would STILL be flat out WRONG.

NOW here comes MY fact check.
And I can sum it up in one word... "WORKERS"

Fact Check. Org throws the word "WORKERS" in to the mix, FIVE TIMES!

WHEN in "FACT" Perry, NOR Romney EVER SAID, nor CLAIMED Obama was referring to WORKERS!
Go back and look for yourselves. The exact quotes are above for you to re-read it.

Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it, APPC!

I've been saying for a long time now that FactCheck is HEAVILY slanted to the left. But hardly anyone seems to care any more. :-(

We do here, Jim. They seem to be leaning left consistently since their inception.
I love how they put the word "workers" in Romney and Perry's mouth here, thinking we won't be paying attention to what's being said.

wow - who do you trust anymore? I heard Snopes was an old Democrat lady working out of her basement! LOL

Excellent piece of analysis! They pulled the old bait and switch on us, a common lib tactic.

Thank you for this. Everyone treats factcheck.com as being the truth. It's so great how you dig deeper and find the truth.

Great job Mark! Liberals suck!

Well Firebird, it surely isn't Fact Check anymore, now is it?

I have heard the same thing about Snopes, but I haven't fact check that one yet. :)

Thanks, Silver. If you're not paying attention and not reading each word, instead of ready the whole piece, some won't catch their underhandedness.

I am still wondering if this author was new to them, Chris. They usually get their point out but this one jumped off the page at me.

Thanks, AP. I have to give credit to one of my liberal family member for at least the link to this, but even that family member was only reading the article and not the content.

Good for you! Superb investigating. Have you seen SNOPES, too? They'll write MAYBE on things that are definitely against Obama but they can't deny it!
On the Michele Bachmann misspeaks, they annihilate her, on Obama saying there are 57 states, they said "he was tired". I'm not kidding. Talk about slanted.

By the way, I read your bio; that child born on the Mayflower's name was OCEANUS, was it not? Boy, are you related to some bigwigs...terrific!

"he was tired" Thats not fact finding, thats using an excuse. LOL!

And thanks Z, it's pretty easy to blow away these liberals from time to time.

And yes his name was Oceanus.

Thanks for taking notice of my ancestry! :)

Also, Sarah Palin is a descendent of Steven Hopkins, that I discovered about a year ago, so that makes her our cousin.
There are more to our ancestry that I didn't include.
Millard Fillmore, Howard Taft, Calvin Coolidge, George H W Bush 9th cousin, once removed and George W Bush 10th cousin.
