As reported on Fox News: (and this is HUGE)
Terror mastermind and senior Al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki is dead, senior U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News
Al-Awlaki, a U.S.-born Islamic militant cleric who became a prominent figure in Al Qaeda's most active branch, using his fluent English and Internet savvy to draw recruits to carry out attacks in the United States, was killed Friday in the mountains of Yemen, American and Yemeni officials said. The Yemeni government and Defense Ministry announced al-Awlaki's death, but gave no details. A senior U.S. official said American intelligence supports the claim that he had been killed. Another confirmed that the Al Qaeda leader was dead, describing him as a "big fish." Neither would confirm or deny if it was a U.S. airstrike.
If this holds true this would be big, as many believe al-Awlaki was next in line to succeed Bin Laden.
Wonder if Michael Moore will condemn it since he wasn't brought to trail in the US
----------------------------------------------UPDATE-------------------------------------------
Killed along with al-Awlaki was this very well know American raised jihadist.
Samir Khan: Who was well known for his writings on the internet, but not much for his jihadist actions.
From Michelle Malkin post this morning:
Some excerpts of Khan Manifesto that I found interestingly ironic.
I would always laugh whenever the start of Ramadan would occur in America and the President would take a few minutes to articulate on how marvelous Islam is; almost as if he himself was to become Muslim. I would laugh because they would show this face in their country, and a different face in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay.
The American regime is still scratching its head on the question: why did Usama bin Ladin attack us? America, take a hint for once: maybe you did something. It should then come as no surprise that the Muslims in your midst – like Nidal Hassan, Faisal Shahzad, and others – became traitors of your state due to your conduct. If you don’t want to spend the rest of your life worrying about preventing another attack, then take the advice of Wikileaks editor, Julian Assange: “If U.S. forces are demoralized because they have been assassinating people without going through the judicial process or because they have been engaged in civilian casualties; if they are demoralized by that, they should change their behavior.”
Therefore, I am proud to be a traitor in America’s eyes just as much as I am proud to be a Muslim; and I take this opportunity to accentuate my oath of allegiance (bai`yah) and the mujahidin of the Arabian Peninsula’s bai`yah to the ferocious lion, the champion of jihad, the humble servant of God, my beloved Shaykh, Usama bin Ladin, may Allah protect him. Verily, he is the man that has shook the thrones of the tyrants of the world. We pledge to wage jihad for the rest of our lives until either we implant Islam all over the world or meet our Lord as bearers of Islam. And how reputable, adventurous and pleasurable is such a life compared to those who remain sitting, working from nine to five?
GOODBYE and GOOD RIDANCE!

This is great news. Violence is up 39% in Afghanistan since the Obama surge. I haven't heard much about the three Obama wars in the MSM.
Yep, it pretty quite out there, but now they are praising the man... YEESH is this all he knows how to do? Cause he sucks at the rest of his job.
I wish they would stop announcing these actions and naming names.
This only serves to elevate the status of the "group" and sends their "leaders even deeper into hiding and or changing tactics.
Ticking-off names is beneath the worlds lone super power anyhow, let foreign agencies sort out the mess and names while we go about doing what other cannot or will not do - quietly.
I know why they do this as the liberals and the MSM blamed the previous administration for the same, politicizing the war on terror, talk about hypocritical.
And yes, I take both administrations to task on what I stated at the start.
Actions, yes and details on those actions.
However, in this instance naming names shows these people we are taking out their leaders, one by one and even though they worship death of others, neither Bin Laden nor al-Awlaki ever attempted to sacrifice themselves, only blind faith followers did.
TO me that’s hypocritical. And glad they are gone.
Two thumbs up for our military. :)
Too bad that fat-ass pus bag Adam Gadahn wasn't with them as well...
I'm worried that the government can now be judge jury and executioner of it's own citizens. Today it is this dirt bag, tomorrow it will be drug runners, eventually it will be anyone who opposes them.
We'll get him next time, Silver.
Trestin, al-Awlaki status as an American citizen is questionable. Both of his parents were Yemeni nationals who never established a permanent domicile here. So the jury is still out on that.
IMO, he committed open treason against the US.
While I support killing terrorists, I find it incredible as to the outright hypocrisy of the left.
The left screamed that Bush was torturing people by pouring water on their faces during interrogations.
Then the left wanted to close Gitmo and bring non-citizens to NY and give terrorists the rights of a trial, the same as American citizens.
Then they wanted to give terrorists Miranda warnings/rights.
The left fought hard to instill in Americans that their thought process in dealing with terrorists was the correct way.
Now, the left kills and American citizen without Miranda warnings, without arrest, without a trial, without due process and the left is silent on this clearly outrageous violation of his rights by birth.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he is gone, but these liberals are just a POS!
Now there's a new angle we can all sink our teeth in to.
Thanks, AP! :)
