Pelosi and Congressional Dems- Amend the 1st

Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats are proposing an idea to amend the 1st Amendment because they are so enraged about the US Supreme courts ruling on Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

“We have a clear agenda in this regard: Disclose, reform the system reducing the roll of money in campaigns, and amend the Constitution to rid it of this ability for special interests to use secret, unlimited, huge amounts of money flowing to campaigns,” Pelosi said at her Thursday press briefing.

“I think one of the presenters at a Democratic forum on amending the Constitution yesterday said that the Supreme Court had unleashed a predator that was oozing slime into the political system, and that, indeed, is not an exaggeration,”

“Our Founders had an idea. It was called democracy. It said elections are determined by the people, the voice and the vote of the people, not by the bankrolls of the privileged few. This Supreme Court decision flies in the face of our Founders’ vision and we want to reverse it.”

First off, Ms Pelosi, our Founders had an idea called the "Republic" for which your leadership in the House, during the 111th congress, failed MISERABLY!
Second, we still have an election determined by the people. People who might also be a part of a Corporation, but individually empower to cast a vote.

Regardless of how a Campaign is funded and the message that that funding promotes, a corporation has no power to vote as a whole and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission didn't change that.

The audacity of the progressives in our nation to want to fundamentally change the 'Bill of Right' is quite certain another attack ON THE CONSTITUTION!

Pelosi and the rest of congress swore and oath:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States."

Support does not mean change because of Political ideology nor interpretation.

She must be removed from office NOW!

I wouldn't mind amending the constitution to say 'eligibility to hold elected office shall not be granted to individuals who are beholding to an ideology of Monarchy's, Communism, Socialism/Progressivism, liberalism, fascism, totalitarianism, dictatorial, or political branches of the aforementioned ideology thereof.'
That would keep the likes of Pelosi/Reid/Obama/etc from EVER fundamentally change our country again.

I note how she does not define "bankrolls of the privileged few"?

Presumably, knowing her actual targets, this would not include unions.

Now just imagine the flurry of political ads over a several year period should the U.S. Congress pass this (which it won't) trying to convince millions of Americans or 3/4 of the State legislatures to ratify shutting down free speech and only leave it to 11.4% of union workers who are mainly government employees.

The woman is bat-shit crazy, a snowball in hell has a better chance of survival.

Nancy Pelosi is nuttier than squirrel poop.... I don't see how anyone can take this idiot seriously - she and Wasserman-Schultz share a brain.

She is a multi-millionaire San Fran Sicko uber-liberal who doesn't have a clue about the real world and she's probably never read the constitution.

There should be a constitutional test for voters AND candidates. It would keep leftwing trash like her out of our faces.

But Hollywood billionaires are just ordinary citizens.

She is doing nothing but try to hijack the constitution for their own political agenda and manipulate ones mind in to believing the founders meant an issue one way, when in fact, based on the Federalist Papers it was meant in a completely different aspect.
They most likely will NOT get their wish, but they did hold a conference about it and that's their starting point!!

Mark, She is attempting to do as you say with carefully chosen words to convey to dumbed-down Americans but I differ from you on your point of this being their starting point. This was the LAUNCH.

The "starting point", to be sure, is less then transparent and most likely was held in one of George Soros' mansions behind closed doors.

True and fair enough, Christopher. My point was, it was pretty much an open emission, on their point, of their intent to amend the constitution. And at that point, let the world know of their destructive intention.
As it has been said, THIS election IS the most important election of our nations history.

Either we broom the progressives from power, by the power of the vote, OR we turn the broom in to pitchfork and torches....
